New Mexico Economic Development Department Launches New Quantum Technologies Award Program
The New Mexico Economic Development Department (EDD) has launched the New Mexico Quantum Technologies Award Pilot Program to support the growth or relocation of quantum technology companies in the state. EDD Secretary-Designate Rob Black announced the competitive state-funded grant, which awards non-dilutive funds to early-stage companies in quantum technologies located in New Mexico. With groundbreaking work in quantum technology being done at Sandia and Los Alamos National Laboratories, as well as UNM’s leading quantum physics program, New Mexico is poised to become a leader in this critical technology.
The state also supports the New Mexico Quantum Moonshot proposal, focused on advancing dual-use quantum technologies. Elevate Quantum CEO Zachary Yerushalmi highlighted the importance of supporting startups in the quantum technology industry. Applications for the NMQTA Pilot Program are now open, with eligible proposals demonstrating potential and plans for business growth in the quantum technology field. Up to five awards of $100,000 each will be made. Interested applicants can find more information on the EDD website.
