The Humboldt Literacy Project and Humboldt County Library are hosting a series of events to promote literacy and community engagement. Families are invited to a “Family Literacy Party” featuring storyteller Ernie Albers at various libraries in Eureka, Willow Creek, and Hoopa. The event is free and participants will receive a free book to take home. Albers, a Yurok tribal member with roots in Karuk and Hupa cultures, uses storytelling to share lessons from tradition and culture in an engaging and interactive way.
In addition to the literacy party, the United Congregational Christian Church in Eureka will host a community craft fair on December 7, featuring local crafters selling their handmade items. The Humboldt County Library will also host a “Teen Movie Night” on December 11 and an all-ages game night on the same date. Families, teens, and children are invited to a vision board program on December 31 at the Eureka Library to create vision boards and set new goals for the upcoming year.
These events aim to promote literacy, creativity, and community involvement in Humboldt County. For more information on these events and others, visit www.humlib.org or contact the Humboldt County Library at 707-269-1910. The literacy project and library continue to provide valuable resources and programs to support literacy and community engagement in the area.
