The Department for Enterprise has announced the rescheduled dates for the annual STEMFest event, which focuses on science, technology, engineering, and math for primary school children. The event, initially postponed due to bus driver shortages, will now take place on 26 and 27 March at the Villa Marina.
Enterprise Minister Tim Johnston expressed his excitement for the event and emphasized the importance of sparking students’ interest in STEM subjects. The festival, which first started in 2018, allows organizations to showcase exhibits to engage students in these fields.
Johnston highlighted the department’s determination to ensure that all primary school students have the opportunity to attend the festival, which is a significant event in their learning calendar. He mentioned that transporting Year 4 and 5 students had been a challenge last month due to bus service pressures, but the new date allows for sufficient time to organize logistics and industry support.
Primary schools across the island have been notified about the rescheduled event, with the majority confirming their participation. Johnston emphasized the importance of nurturing a love for STEM subjects early on to shape the future innovators and problem solvers. The event aims to inspire and motivate students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and math.
