Presidential Campaign News Update: October 31, 2024

With less than a week until Election Day, both Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are making their final pushes in battleground states. Trump criticized Joe Biden’s “garbage” comment about his supporters during a rally in Wisconsin, while Harris expressed disagreement with criticizing people based on who they vote for.

Maryland GOP Senate candidate Larry Hogan received an endorsement from Trump after initially not wanting it, and Latin superstar Nicky Jam withdrew his endorsement of Trump due to offensive comments made at a rally. In response, Trump claimed that media outlets not endorsing a presidential candidate means they think Harris is “no good.”

Harris continues to campaign in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and other battleground states, targeting young voters for support. New polling shows Harris has a narrow lead in Wisconsin and Michigan but is tied in Pennsylvania.

In voting news, a Pennsylvania judge extended the mail voting deadline in Bucks County, while voting rights groups and state Democrats urged the US Supreme Court to allow provisional votes for rejected mail ballots. In Oregon, investigators suspect an individual is intentionally setting fires at ballot drop boxes, while confusion over voting tallies in Michigan was due to a formatting error, with no extra votes counted.
