Bomb threats targeting Connecticut’s Congress members on Thanksgiving

Multiple members of Connecticut’s congressional delegation, including Democratic Reps. Jim Himes, Jahana Hayes, Joe Courtney, John Larson, and Rosa DeLauro, as well as Sen. Chris Murphy, were targeted with bomb threats at their homes on Thanksgiving. The threats were part of a coordinated effort involving multiple public figures. Local and state police responded to the threats but did not find any bombs or explosive materials. The FBI is working with state and local partners to investigate the incidents, but no suspects have been identified yet. The U.S. Capitol Police and Connecticut State Police are also involved in the ongoing investigation.

Despite the threats, all lawmakers expressed gratitude for law enforcement response and emphasized that there is no place for political violence in the country. This incident comes after a previous increase in threats to members of Congress in 2023. Other local police departments are assisting in the investigation, but no charges have been filed at this time. The threats occurred amidst similar incidents targeting President-elect Donald Trump’s administration officials earlier in the week. Overall, the Connecticut delegation and law enforcement officials are working together to keep everyone safe and investigate the threats.
