Tru Washington was the star player for New Mexico as they secured a dominant 99-68 victory over Texas Southern on Sunday night. The Tigers from Texas Southern put up a fight with Kavion McClain leading the team with 15 points and six assists. Jaylen Wysinger and Zaire Hayes also contributed with 12 and 10 points respectively.
New Mexico took control of the game towards the end of the first half and never looked back. They led 38-31 at halftime and extended their lead to 77-48 in the second half thanks to an 11-0 scoring run. Borovicanin scored 11 points in the second half to help seal the win for New Mexico.
The victory puts New Mexico at a 5-1 record for the season, while Texas Southern dropped to 0-5 with this loss. The Lobos showcased their offensive firepower and defensive prowess in this game, sending a strong message to the rest of their opponents.
