In Wellesley, Massachusetts, a worker was seriously injured while hanging Christmas lights on a tree when he received an electric shock. The 22-year-old contractor, who works for NZ Power Wash, was using a long pole to string up the lights when it came into contact with an electrical line, causing the shock. He collapsed and was found in cardiac arrest, requiring CPR and defibrillation by police before being rushed to the hospital.
The victim was taken to Newton Wellesley Hospital and then transferred to Massachusetts General Hospital with life-threatening injuries. He is currently recovering in the hospital. The incident is being investigated by OSHA, along with local police and the Wellesley Municipal Light Plant.
The coworker who witnessed the incident declined to comment, but expressed support for the man and his family during this tragic event. Wellesley Police Officer Tim Gover stated that the worker will be lucky if he survives, as he took a big hit from the shock. The incident serves as a reminder of the dangers of working near electrical lines and the importance of safety precautions when undertaking such tasks.
