The jury in New Mexico awarded a man over $412 million in a medical malpractice case involving a men’s health clinic operating across several states. The plaintiff’s attorneys celebrated the verdict, hoping it will prevent others from falling victim to a scheme involving fraud and dangerous penile injections. This case marks the largest amount ever awarded by a jury in a medical malpractice case in the U.S. The lawsuit alleged that the man, seeking treatment for fatigue and weight loss, was misdiagnosed and unnecessarily treated with invasive erectile dysfunction shots that caused irreversible damage. The plaintiff’s attorneys accused NuMale Medical Center of setting up a fraudulent scheme to exploit older men, with clinic workers misleading patients into agreeing to injections multiple times a week to avoid irreversible damage. NuMale Medical Center President Brad Palubicki stated that the company remains focused on delivering responsible patient care while maintaining safety and compliance standards at all its facilities, but refrained from commenting on the case due to ongoing legal proceedings. The jury found that the defendants’ fraudulent and negligent conduct resulted in damages to the plaintiff, and their unconscionable conduct violated the Unfair Practices Act. NuMale Medical Center also operates in several other states, including Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Nevada, Nebraska, North Carolina, and Wisconsin.
