Food banks across New Mexico offer free food regularly, especially around Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Feeding America operates a network of food banks and pantries nationwide. Their research shows a national food insecurity rate of 13.5% in 2022, with New Mexico slightly higher at 15.2%. Roadrunner Food Bank distributed over 22 pre-Thanksgiving meals statewide. El Caldito Soup Kitchen in Las Cruces will provide meals on Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Various organizations in Albuquerque are hosting Thanksgiving meals, including Joy Junction and HopeWorks.
