Northern New Mexico will see rain and snow on Wednesday as colder air moves in for Thanksgiving Day. Winds will pick up, with gusts of up to 70 mph possible, especially along and east of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. A cold front will bring light rain and snow to areas along and north of I-40, with the best chances for precipitation in the northern mountains where a few inches of snow could accumulate.
The Albuquerque Metro may see a spotty shower on Wednesday afternoon, but no significant rainfall is expected. Temperatures will drop rapidly behind the front, and a backdoor cold front on Wednesday evening will bring even chillier temperatures. Drier air will move in overnight, with a few spotty showers and light snow possible in some areas.
Thanksgiving afternoon will be dry but cold, with lighter winds. Dry and warmer weather is expected for the following week, with temperatures hovering around or slightly above average. This forecast is brought to you by KRQE NEWS 13.
