NM State Swimming & Diving Compete in 2024 Phill Hansel Invitational
NM State Swimming & Diving kicked off the 2024 Phill Hansel Invitational hosted by The University of Houston with a strong showing, currently sitting in third place with 205 points after five events. The team is trailing host Houston and Nevada in the rankings.
Katie Rink led the Aggies on the opening day with a record-setting performance in the 500 free, setting a program record and earning an NCAA ‘B’ cut time of 4:46.66. Naomi Slee also performed well, qualifying for the A final and finishing sixth in the event.
The day started with a fifth-place finish in the 200 free relay, followed by Emily Dobbins securing a spot in the A final of the 50 free and finishing fifth. The team also logged a top-8 time in the 400 medley relay, finishing seventh with a time of 3:46.12.
The Aggies will continue competing in seven more events on Thursday, including the 200 medley relay, the 100 butterfly, and the 800 free relay. Prelims begin at 9 a.m. MT with finals scheduled for 4 p.m. MT.
