A man in New Mexico has been awarded over $412 million in a medical malpractice case against a men’s health clinic that operates in multiple states. The verdict, handed down by jurors in Albuquerque, follows a trial that focused on allegations of fraud and dangerous penile injections made by the clinic. The man’s attorneys hailed the verdict as potentially the largest award in history for a medical malpractice case and hope it will protect others from falling victim to similar schemes.
The lawsuit, filed in 2020, accused NuMale Medical Center of misdiagnosing the man and subjecting him to unnecessary and harmful treatments. The plaintiff, who visited the clinic seeking treatment for fatigue and weight loss, was reportedly given invasive erectile dysfunction shots that caused irreversible damage. The verdict found that the defendants engaged in fraudulent and negligent conduct, resulting in damages to the plaintiff that violated the Unfair Practices Act.
NuMale Medical Center President Brad Palubicki has stated that the company disagrees with the verdict and plans to pursue legal remedies, including an appeal. The company operates in several states, including Colorado, Florida, and Illinois.
