Suspect arrested following deadly hit-and-run in southern New Mexico


State police in New Mexico have made an arrest in connection with a fatal hit-and-run incident involving a bicyclist. The victim, identified as 69-year-old Kevin O’Leary, was found dead near his bike on State Road 11 near mile marker 8. The incident occurred on Saturday, Nov. 23, and the suspect vehicle fled the scene with no witnesses present. A lookout alert was issued for a red vehicle with front-end damage based on debris found at the scene. Thanks to the license plate recognition system, the vehicle was identified and Border Patrol informed state police that the vehicle crossed into Mexico. The driver, 33-year-old Noel Ronquillo Jr., was apprehended in Deming on Monday, Nov. 25. Ronquillo now faces charges of involuntary manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident.
