Viva Vino Wine Studio Grand Opening in Old Town Celebrates New Mexico’s Wine Culture
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Old Town Albuquerque is set to welcome a new hub for wine enthusiasts with the grand opening of the Viva Vino Wine Studio on Saturday. Located on the second floor of Plaza Don Luis at 303 Romero Street, the studio, which officially opened to the public in October, aims to spotlight New Mexico’s rich winemaking heritage.
Christopher Goblet, executive director of the New Mexico Wine Growers Association, describes the studio as a versatile facility that combines a traditional wine bar with educational opportunities. Visitors can expect tastings and classes focused on wine production, alongside appearances by guest winemakers.
A highlight of the studio is its innovative interactive touchscreen table, developed by Ideum in Corrales. This unique display allows visitors to place their wine glasses on the table to receive detailed information about their wines, including the grape varieties used and the winemaking techniques. Taster feedback is collected to inform winemakers about consumer preferences and enhance the local wine experience.
With over 50 wineries producing diverse selections, New Mexico’s wine industry boasts roots dating back to 1629 when Spanish monks first planted grapevines along the Rio Grande. Goblet expressed pride in representing the wineries of New Mexico, stating, “We now have a destination where visitors, tourists, and locals can come to learn more about this great industry here in New Mexico.”
The grand opening will take place from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, inviting the community to explore and celebrate the state’s vibrant wine culture. For more details about the Viva Vino Wine Studio, visit their website.
