Men’s Swimming Defeats Scranton and Hartwick


The Stevens Institute of Technology men’s swim team secured victories over Hartwick College and the University of Scranton in a tri-meet on Saturday. The Ducks emerged victorious with a 193-87 win over Hartwick and a close 149-135 win over Scranton, improving their overall record to 2-2.

The day started off strong for Stevens with a win in the 200-medley relay, led by Deo Bove, Angel Velasquez, Edward Platonov, and Will Stibor. Individual standout performances included Platonov and Stibor dominating the 200 free, and Ryan Ward and Jack Martinek taking first and second in the 100-back. Velasquez finished second in the 100-breast and was followed by teammates Cade Cermak and James Johnson in third and fourth place. Joe Sparshott put up a strong performance in the 200-fly, while Leo Timmerman and Lukas Mikulenas also contributed to the team’s success.

Head Coach Adam Schneider was pleased with the team’s performance and highlighted standout swims by Sparshott and Delaney Klaus. The team is now preparing for the TCNJ Invitational next weekend.

Next up for the Ducks is the three-day TCNJ Invitational at The College of New Jersey where they will look to build on their recent successes and continue their winning streak.
