A shooting incident occurred at a Four Seasons hotel and residences in Midtown Atlanta, leaving a police officer and a suspected shooter injured. The shooter, identified as 70-year-old Jay Stevens Berger, fired from a balcony on the 33rd floor using multiple guns. Police responded to a dispute between a building worker and Berger, which led to the stand-off. The incident resulted in no other injuries besides those of the officer and the suspect. The injured were taken to the hospital for treatment. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation will investigate the officer’s response to the incident. The shelter-in-place order for the area has been lifted, and the suspect is in custody. The hotel portion of the building is separate from the residential condominium where the incident occurred. The Four Seasons hotel occupies 19 stories of the building and has resumed normal operations. The safety and security of guests and employees are a top priority for the hotel. Mayor Andre Dickens praised the bravery of the officers who responded to the incident. The motive behind the shooting and the suspect’s wearing of a gas mask remains unclear.
