The shooter, identified as 70-year-old Jay Stevens Berger, fired from a balcony on the 33rd floor using multiple guns. Police responded to a dispute between a building worker and Berger, which led to the stand-off. The incident resulted in no other injuries besides those of the officer and the suspect. The injured were taken to the hospital for treatment. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation will investigate the officer’s response to the incident. The shelter-in-place order for the area has been lifted, and the suspect is in custody. The hotel portion of the building is separate from the residential condominium where the incident occurred.
