A former Disney employee, Michael Scheuer, is being accused of hacking into the company’s menu-creating software after being fired from his position as a menu production manager at Walt Disney World. The federal criminal complaint alleges that Scheuer altered menu prices and added profanity to menus, as well as changing allergen information to falsely indicate that certain food items did not contain peanuts when they did, posing a threat to public health and safety. Federal agents searched Scheuer’s home and seized personal computers, but he denies any wrongdoing, claiming that Disney is trying to frame him. Scheuer’s attorney stated that the allegations do not involve any harm to individuals and that Scheuer has a disability that may have affected his termination from Disney. The lawsuit also mentions that Scheuer may have continued to access Disney’s systems after being terminated, though he claims it was only for personal reasons such as financial information. Disney has not responded to requests for comment, and Scheuer’s attorney plans to present his client’s side of the story during legal proceedings.
