NM State Men’s Basketball Returns to the Court for 2024-25 Exhibition Game Against Western New Mexico

After a 233-day break, NM State’s men’s basketball team is ready to kick off their 2024-25 season with an exhibition game against in-state rival Western New Mexico. The game will take place on Monday evening at the Pan American Center in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Last season, Coach Hooten led the Aggies to several notable victories, setting a strong foundation for the future. However, the team will face significant challenges this season with the departure of eight players, including key contributors like Femi Odukale, Kaosi Ezeagu, and Jordan Rawls.

Despite these losses, the Aggies are optimistic about the new talent stepping into key roles. Four returning players, including Christian Cook and Jaden Harris, bring valuable experience and scoring prowess to the team. Additionally, seven new players, including Dionte Bostick, Carl Cherenfant, and Zawdie Jackson, are expected to make an immediate impact.

One of the most exciting additions to the team is the Tshimanga brothers, Emmanuel and Nate, who will play together for the first time at the Division I level. This brotherly connection adds depth and chemistry to the Aggie lineup.

In the Conference USA preseason poll, NM State was picked to finish seventh, with Christian Cook named to the Preseason All-Conference Team. Despite the challenges ahead, the Aggies are gearing up for an exciting season filled with new talent and a strong sense of camaraderie.
