The New Mexico State Aggies returned to the court after 233 days with a strong performance in a season-opening exhibition against Western New Mexico. Led by senior transfer guard Dionte Bostick and big man Robert Carpenter, the Aggies secured a 77-56 victory. Carpenter led the team with 22 points and was supported by Christian Cook, Jaden Harris, and Zawdie Jackson, who all scored in double digits.
The first half saw a back-and-forth battle with the Mustangs taking the lead early on, but the Aggies went on a 27-5 run to go into halftime with a 38-24 lead. In the second half, NM State maintained a comfortable lead, never allowing Western New Mexico to get within 14 points.
