The New Mexico State women’s golf team is currently in 12th place after the first 36 holes at the Dale McNamara Invitational. The Aggies struggled in the first two rounds of the tournament, held at the Tulsa Country Club, but are looking to bounce back in the final round.
The team is led by freshman Malak Bouraeda, who is currently tied for 41st individually after shooting a 75 and 77 in the first two rounds. Senior Maria Prado is close behind, tied for 47th after shooting 76 and 77. Junior Maria Jose Martinez is tied for 58th, while freshman Leah Lucero and senior Oriana Iturrioz are tied for 63rd and 73rd, respectively.
The Aggies will need to improve their scores in the final round if they hope to move up in the standings. Head coach Danny Bowen expressed confidence in his team’s ability to perform better in the last round and move up the leaderboard.
The Dale McNamara Invitational features some of the top teams in women’s college golf, including defending national champions Baylor and host school Tulsa. The tournament is a great opportunity for the Aggies to test themselves against strong competition and gain valuable experience.
