Elon Musk has donated nearly $75 million to America PAC, a super PAC he created to support former President Donald Trump’s campaign efforts. This makes him one of the top Republican donors this year. Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has a net worth of $241 billion and established America PAC in May to help Trump return to the White House. The super PAC focuses on voter turnout efforts in swing states like Pennsylvania.
Musk gave $14.95 million in July, $30 million in August, and $30 million in September to America PAC, making him the sole donor during that period. The super PAC also received donations from Musk’s associates in June. The filing shows that America PAC had just under $4 million in cash on hand as of September 30.
Musk’s contributions to pro-Trump efforts have been the subject of speculation. In July, he disputed Trump’s claim that he was giving $45 million a month and clarified that he was supporting Trump at a lower level. Musk has also made smaller donations to other Republican committees this year.
Overall, few people have given more money than Musk to Republican or pro-Trump efforts this year. The filing covers donations through September 30, and additional contributions from Musk or other donors may be reported before the November 5 election.
