Aidan Hutchinson, Detroit Lions defensive end and NFL sack leader, injured and carted off the field with a leg injury

Detroit Lions defensive end Aidan Hutchinson was injured during the third quarter of the game against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. After sacking Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, Hutchinson’s left leg appeared to collide with a teammate, causing him to be carted off the field. The injury was deemed too gruesome to show on the broadcast, and Hutchinson was on the field for several minutes before being taken to the locker room. Hutchinson, who led the NFL in sacks at the time of his injury, was selected second overall in the 2022 NFL draft by the Lions and had 21 sacks in his first two seasons with the team. Players from both teams gathered around Hutchinson as he was carted off, showing support for the injured player. The extent of Hutchinson’s injury and how much time he will miss as a result is currently unknown, but losing him would be a significant blow to the Lions’ defense. Hutchinson’s impressive performance on the field prior to his injury had made him a key player for the Lions, and his absence will be felt in future games.
