On Saturday, Vice President Kamala Harris released a summary of her medical records from her White House physician, Dr. Joshua Simmons. The report described her as a healthy 59-year-old female with a history of seasonal allergies and urticaria (hives), which she treats with over-the-counter medications and allergen immunotherapy for the past three years. Despite these minor issues, she has never experienced severe symptoms. Harris follows a healthy diet, regularly exercises, drinks occasionally in moderation, and does not use tobacco.
The physician’s report concluded that Harris has the physical and mental resilience required to fulfill the duties of the Presidency. It is common for presidential candidates to release their medical records, but this is the first time Harris’ records have been made public. In contrast, former President Donald Trump has not released his medical records since 2023 when his doctor stated he was in excellent health without providing detailed information.
The Harris campaign is focusing on Trump’s age, 78, using the same tactic he employed against Biden during his presidency. Harris released an ad questioning what would happen if Trump were to become incapacitated as president, leaving his running mate, Sen. JD Vance, in charge. This strategic move aims to shift attention away from Biden’s age, 81, and onto Trump’s health and ability to lead effectively.
