Kim Jong-un, North Korean leader, warns of deploying nuclear weapons against the South in case of attack

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un stated that the country would not hesitate to use all available offensive forces, including nuclear weapons, if its sovereignty is threatened. He criticized South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol for threatening to end the North Korean regime at a military event. Kim emphasized that North Korea would use all offensive forces, including nuclear weapons, in response to any encroachment on its sovereignty. The comments were made at a training base for army special operation units.

North Korea has been pursuing a nuclear weapons program for decades and is believed to possess enough materials to build numerous weapons. The country has conducted six underground nuclear tests. Meanwhile, in South Korea, the armed forces day was marked with a military parade featuring a ballistic missile and a U.S. bomber flypast. President Yoon warned Pyongyang against using nuclear weapons, stating that it would lead to a strong response from the South Korean military and the U.S. alliance.

Kim responded by saying that threats from enemies would not diminish North Korea’s military strength and that the country’s nuclear weapons would not be relinquished. The tensions between North and South Korea continue to be high, with both sides making threats and showcasing military capabilities.
