Donaldvan Williams, a man from Texas, was sentenced to three years and four months in federal prison for kicking a cat in a horrifying act of animal abuse that was recorded and shared on social media. The incident took place in the parking lot of a Beaumont apartment complex on October 15, 2021.
The cat, which was foaming at the mouth and convulsing, was kicked by Williams “as if kicking a football field goal,” according to court records. The kick was so powerful that the cat was propelled through the air around 15 to 20 feet. The act was recorded by another man, Decorius Mire, who encouraged Williams to kick the cat and then posted the video on social media.
Mire was also sentenced to 18 months in prison for his involvement in the incident. Additionally, the court documents revealed that someone else poured an accelerant on the cat and set it on fire, but neither Williams nor Mire were charged in connection with that particular act of cruelty.
While the court records do not specify the outcome for the cat, it is clear that the animal suffered greatly as a result of the abuse. Williams pleaded guilty to animal crushing and aiding and abetting, acknowledging his role in the senseless act of violence against the innocent animal.
