Wildfires in California and Nevada have rapidly spread due to triple-digit temperatures and dry conditions, but cooler weather may offer some relief in the firefight. The Line Fire in the San Bernardino National Forest has grown to 26,400 acres with only 5% containment, threatening thousands of structures and forcing evacuations of at least 6,000 people. Pyrocumulus clouds created by the fire have led to lightning strikes in the area. As strong winds are expected on Tuesday, firefighters are working to contain the blaze with air support from the California National Guard. Evacuation orders are in place for multiple communities, with schools closing in some areas. The Airport Fire in Orange County and the Bridge Fire in Angeles National Forest have also prompted evacuations and warnings. Meanwhile, the Davis Fire in Nevada is burning nearly 5,600 acres and impacting structures and power outages. Red Flag warnings are in place as wind gusts and low humidity continue to pose fire risks in the region. Overall, over 400 personnel are fighting the fires and working to protect communities from the ongoing threat.
