In an exciting five-set match this past weekend, the NMSU Aggies volleyball team fell short against San Francisco. The Aggies put up a tough fight in their season opener, but ultimately succumbed to the Dons in a closely contested match.
The Aggies came out strong in the first set, taking an early lead and holding off San Francisco to secure a 25-23 victory. However, the Dons rallied back in the second set, overpowering the Aggies with strong offensive play to even the score at 1-1.
The third set saw both teams trading points back and forth, with neither able to gain a significant advantage. Ultimately, the Dons edged out the Aggies with a narrow 25-23 win, putting them up 2-1 in the match.
The Aggies fought back in the fourth set, determined to push the match into a fifth and deciding set. With strong serving and consistent defense, they were able to take the set 25-21, tying the match at 2-2.
In the final set, both teams gave it their all in a tense battle for the win. San Francisco managed to pull ahead late in the set, and despite a valiant effort from the Aggies, they were unable to close the gap. The Dons secured the victory with a 15-12 win in the fifth set, taking the match 3-2.
While the Aggies may have come up short in their season opener, they showed great determination and resilience throughout the match. With plenty of games left in the season, they will no doubt bounce back from this loss and continue to compete at a high level.
