Rapid City Fire Department (RCFD) will be hosting a CPR class specifically designed for new parents in an effort to equip them with life-saving skills. The class, which will take place at the RCFD Training Center, aims to educate parents on how to perform CPR on infants and children in emergency situations.

The importance of CPR training for parents cannot be understated, as it can make a significant difference in saving a child’s life in critical situations. According to statistics, the majority of cardiac arrests occur in the home, making it crucial for parents to have the knowledge and skills to respond effectively in such emergencies.

The class will cover a range of crucial topics, including recognizing cardiac arrest, performing chest compressions, and using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). In addition, participants will have the opportunity to practice their skills on infant and child mannequins under the guidance of certified instructors.
