NM State Football Begins New Era Under Head Coach Tony Sanchez
Las Cruces, N.M. – NM State football officially kicks off a new era under Head Coach Tony Sanchez as they take on Southeast Missouri in their season opener at Aggie Memorial Stadium on Saturday evening. This marks Sanchez’s first season with the Aggies, following his successful stint at UNLV.
The Aggies are looking to make history with a third-straight bowl game appearance, a feat never achieved in program history. With 59 upperclassmen on the roster, NM State aims to build on their strong rushing game, led by an experienced offensive line with a total of 101 starts.
In their second year as Conference USA members, the Aggies are determined to continue their success after reaching the conference championship game in their debut season. Despite facing familiar opponents, the Aggies will host teams they played on the road last year and vice versa.
Looking to start the season with a win for the first time since 2014, NM State will rely on a solid rushing attack and a determined group of players to achieve their goal. Additionally, long-time broadcaster Jack Nixon will be calling his 45th and final season for the Aggies, with support from former player Javahn Ferguson in the season opener.
