Several airlines, including British Airways and Air France, have suspended flights to Israel following intense clashes between Israeli forces and Hezbollah. British Airways announced the cancellation of flights until Wednesday, with Air France pausing services until Monday. Other carriers, such as Etihad, Ethiopian Airlines, and Wizz, also suspended flights to Tel Aviv. Virgin Atlantic extended its suspension until September 25, while Royal Jordanian halted services to Beirut on Sunday.
Lufthansa has extended its flight suspensions to Beirut and Israel until the end of September, and Delta Air Lines followed suit with an extension until October 31. The situation escalated when Israeli forces carried out air strikes on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon, leading to the closure of Ben Gurion Airport for two hours and the diversion of incoming flights.
Hezbollah retaliated with hundreds of drones and rockets launched across the border. In a televised address, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah denied Israel’s claims of detecting the attack in advance and stated that it was in response to the killing of a commander in a previous air strike. The conflict has raised safety concerns for airlines flying in the region, causing multiple suspensions of flights.
The ongoing violence between Israel and Hezbollah has resulted in significant disruptions to air travel, prompting airlines to prioritize passenger safety by suspending operations to affected areas. It remains uncertain when flights will resume as the conflict escalates, impacting travel plans for passengers and highlighting the volatile situation in the region.
