Medical professional faces charges for secretly recording women and children in hospital using hidden cameras

Dr. Oumair Aejaz, a Detroit-area doctor, has been charged with secretly filming women and children in the hospital where he worked using hidden cameras over a span of six years. He recorded children as young as two and women recovering from surgeries in various hospital rooms, changing rooms, closets, bathrooms, and bedrooms at hospitals and a local swim club. Aejaz faces 10 charges, including sexual abuse of a child, creating child sexual abuse material using a computer, and capturing or recording nude children under 18 and two women. Sheriff Michael Bouchard described the case as one of the most disturbing sexual predator cases he has seen. The number of victims is unknown due to the high volume of recordings. Both hospitals where Aejaz had privileges are cooperating with the investigation. Detectives received a tip about Aejaz’s behavior and seized several devices containing thousands of videos dating back six years from his home. Aejaz, originally from India, had been working in the United States on a visa since 2011 and had completed his residency in Detroit. The investigation is expected to extend beyond Michigan and possibly beyond the United States. Victims are urged to contact the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office if they suspect they may have been filmed by Aejaz.
