In Gaza, an Israeli strike hit a tent camp at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, killing four people and injuring others. Another strike flattened a house in northern Gaza, killing at least eight people. A school-turned-shelter in Gaza City was also hit, killing at least 16 people. Israel claims it tries to avoid harming civilians, but Gaza’s Health Ministry does not differentiate between civilians and militants in its tolls.
Israel’s massive offensive in Gaza has killed at least 39,550 Palestinians, causing widespread destruction and displacing the majority of the population multiple times. The conflict has also spilled over into the occupied West Bank, where over 590 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire during raids and protests. Palestinians want all three territories – the West Bank, Gaza, and east Jerusalem – for their future state.
Hezbollah, an Iran-backed militant group, has also traded fire with Israel along the Lebanon border to support Hamas in Gaza. The escalating strikes and counterstrikes have raised fears of a more destructive regional war. The ongoing violence has resulted in a high number of civilian casualties and displaced people, with little hope of a peaceful resolution in sight.
